Arnav was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his senior year of high school. Osteosarcoma is an aggressive bone cancer that occurs when a bone-forming cell starts growing out of control, making a cancerous tumor in the bone. Once the cancer spreads to any part of the body, the 5 year survival rate is only 25%. About 500 children and teens in the US get it every year.
To prevent his cancer from spreading to other parts of his body, Arnav got his arm amputated above the elbow shortly after his diagnosis, along with 8 months of chemotherapy. While the treatments and surgeries took their toll on Arnav, he was motivated by seeing kids that were several years younger than him fighting the same battles he was. It gave him a sense of community - knowing he wasn’t the only one fighting.
More children than one imagines are diagnosed with this merciless disease. We’re devastated by how few resources are dedicated towards finding a cure for this cancer. We are determined to help raise awareness and funds to support osteosarcoma treatment research.
