The Cameron Bottelberghe Osteosarcoma Research Fund’s intention is to raise MUCH needed funds for osteosarcoma research. Our intention with The Cameron Bottelberghe Fund is to help one day give osteosarcoma patients NEW drugs. Cameron, like every child diagnosed with osteosarcoma, receive treatments that are over 40 years old. We need to do better for kids and young adults like Cameron, and give them a fighting chance at survival through updated treatments. We can only do this through meaningful and impactful research.
Did you know that 1 out of 7 children die as a result of cancer? Only 4% of the NIH Budget is spent on childhood cancers. Less than that is on Osteosarcoma which is considered a “rare” cancer. Cameron only had a 30% chance of survival since it had spread to her lungs, which is typical. If the child survives, 95% of these kids will have significant health issues due to the current treatments.
Our hope and prayer is that we can increase survival for our children so they have a fighting chance. Our future IS our children.
